‘We’re not aliens, but we certainly are alienated by a culture that refuses to
accept that we live, love, and relate to the world and to our communities as
human beings.–Caro Narby
My refrigerator isn’t working. This isn’t related, but half of the electricity in my house also isn’t working as of today. The fridge hasn’t been working for about 3 weeks. Back to the electricity… even though the power company turned it off today to work on something, and 50% of mine didn’t come back on, I still have to fix it myself.
Great. Thanks for nothing. like always. You cause the damage. I pay. Sounds very familiar. Except I’m not paying to get the electricity fixed. The electric company will lose about $10 to $20 a month because I use less electricity. Too bad, this is nothing to them.
Take that for resilience. I don’t have “real food,” but I did get creative with the electricity. living 75% of life on 50% electricity.
My dog is sick too. Might be fatal. This would normally be the lead, but I’m still in shock about the electricity.
I don’t want to hear about fake resilience. It’s an insult. And I don’t want to be praised for it either. Also, equally insulting. I want people to get their heads out of their asses and stop claiming everything is resilient and stop using it to describe crappy things that happen to people. But I know this isn’t happening.
My keyboard is broken too. haha. So tired of typing like this. Got creative with this, too, even though I do have a wireless keyboard that goes with my work computer. Should I slug through or just disconnect the other keyboard? I’m going to disconnect/reconnect the wireless keyboard until I can get a new one. Cheap keyboards can only handle one computer at a time.
I’m not creative in the artist sense, but only people with no resources (mostly money) even attempt to get this “creative.”
It’s not a choice.
Time for my passive weekly stuff. I’ve got things to do. Need to not have it be so cluttered in my necessary, “creative” space I had to create due to not having power in half of my house. Not to make a big deal about it.
Why bother? Just get knocked down again. I should just stay down and watch Miss Fake Resilience call it depression instead of seeing the obvious environmental factors. keep looking on the surface & being wrong. Or should I just act like this is normal and that everyone deals with this at the same time and has chronic burnout?
Doesn’t matter.

Books of the Week
Reading many books, finished two this week
- The Day He Never Came Home by Andrew DeYoung (Fiction) My rating: ★★★★ (four stars) I really liked this book. Quick read. Better than the average thriller. This story had nuance, which is lacking in many works of fiction. From my notes: Regan (the main character) can make her own decisions. Ugh.
- The Couple in Cabin 14 by Nancy Savage (Fiction) My rating: ★★★ (three stars) Disappointing, but I did finish it. There’s something disingenuous about repeatedly using the word ‘justice’ in a situation not at all reated to justice… even in a fiction book. From my notes – meh. ending ruining it.
