I’ve sacrificed my health, passion and time to have my basic needs met. I sometimes rob Peter to pay Paul so I can have a little fun or an escape. But I have nothing when compared to most middle-class people. My net worth is negative.
Sacrificing my health for what I have is BS. But it’s not all that uncommon. Look at the stats of people born with a disability. Then look at the stats again with people who don’t receive social security. I know many autistic people work MORE for way less pay. It recks our bodies. Even without work stress, just the stress of living in the world does so much damage to our bodies.
Many autistic people die not only by suicide but by diseases of the nervous and circulatory systems. AKA more stress than the average person. But nothing to see here. I’m not going to blame them for making life unlivable. Not today.
We know how people feel about us. Nothing needs to be said. No need to lie and pretend.
Autism were associated with a 90% higher all-cause mortality…
Individuals with ASD face challenges in accessing non-emergency medical services, attending healthcare appointments, and seeking emergency care when confronted with external conditions and chronic physical issues.
But when we do get care it’s not good so does the above really matter? Even in the studies when autistic individuals get care they still have almost the same mortality rate. The care is ineffective because the doctors don’t know anything about autism in adults!
