Autism – Gender Differences & More

A summary of 3 articles about autism and ADHD.

**ASD is autism spectrum disorder, btw. And if you find the audio summary interesting, I recommend going to the sources.

(Sorry for the bad graphics – rush job).

I shouldn’t have included the differences between ADHD and autism in this summary. But there’s still good info here so I’m posting it. I wanted it to focus on autism in women but I uploaded the summary of autism and ADHD first and without direction AI assumed I wanted to focus on those differences. Next time, I’ll tell it what to do.

My opinion on the DSM-5: I think the experts are wrong and they will change their mind about how they define autism. It’s already happening right now. So, throw the DSM-5 out the door for autism. I think the wording will change for ADHD or they will specify ADHD in adults or come up with a new name. But this info can be interesting for people new to the topic.

Dr. Barkley is so much more knowledgeable than the average doctor when it comes to ADHD and autism so I would listen to him OVER the DSM-5 because he is more detailed. Many of the things he mentions are nowhere found in the DSM. I only find the DSM for lay people helpful if a person wonders, “should I get tested for ____.” If it’s not listed in black and white, you probably won’t get a diagnosis.

Anyway, I found the use of ADHD and ASD confusing by the “authors”. But that’s AI for you. Just say autism instead of ASD especially when talking about both. But it’s still interesting.
