Disagreements PT 1

People don’t agree for many reasons. For me, it’s often about values. I value A more than B, and someone else values B more than A. So, that can cause people to disagree. It’s only a problem when people try to make one side wrong. And I’m guilty of that until I remind myself that people are different and value different things. In the heat of the moment, I’m usually not thinking that.

Example: I value helping people who need help and doesn’t have resources in almost every situation. Sherry might not help based on that value. Is this a disagreement? Not really. But if we were on a board together (never happening) and she wanted to help Joe build a deck to his expensive house and I wanted to help Brian who can’t afford to fix his stairs…We will disagree.

And sometimes people don’t care about the issue which could go back to values. Or maybe the person can’t relate to the other for some reason.

The lack of empathy is huge. I just can’t deal with this anymore. When people can only understand their life, I can’t communicate with them. This doesn’t affect everything. A person who loves pink (ugh!) while I prefer purple isn’t due to a lack of empathy. It may be a lack of taste. Am I joking or not? Joking, of course, but purple is a better option for almost everything.

People don’t understand anything about being a disabled autistic (to be specific) adult with hardly any spare time and no (extra) money. Almost every time I speak there is some sort of mix up. People who don’t live like this will never understand how tiring this is and I’m already tired, so I just agree with whatever is said which means I don’t get anything usually. I always try first. And then I get hit with the reality that this is another person who can only live in their world.

Not caring about an issue is fine. But if the person is trying to have a discussion and there’s no knowledge of the issue, what’s the point? You won’t find me talking about how to play baseball. Ever. Because I know next to nothing about the topic. I can’t tell you about antibiotics, cooking and what’s it like to live in Russia. For example.

However, some people THINK they know something, make decisions with their lack of knowledge and make bad decisions. That’s a problem. But if it works out for them, it’s not bad for them. It can be bad for people in different situations.

This is only part 1. Don’t know when or IF I will have more. For the next 2 weeks, from what I know I will be working 65 hours each week. Okay, I’m not going to put my health in that much danger. I couldn’t work that much even if I wanted to. So, it will probably be only 60 hours. I will NOT be doing what they require.

Risk my health more FOR THEM? Never again. I did it for almost 3 years and my health shows it. But they seem fine.
