Be Mr. Rogers?

Daily writing prompt
What makes a good neighbor?

Where to begin. It’s really, really simple. But I’m finding out when I’m straightforward that people make up elaborate stories and that raises my blood pressure (only when it’s an important matter).

  • Minding their own business
  • The tallest fence possible on all sides
  • Indoor dogs and cats or have a fence (see above)
  • QUIET
  • Ignoring me
  • Ignoring my dog
  • I don’t know you exist.
  • You don’t know I exist.

This is just the basic 101 stuff that I wish I could take for granted. But I’ve learned over the years that if you live somewhere like this, you are lucky. When I worked full-time at the office (a long time ago), I didn’t want to see another human. NO ONE.

Now I’m home 97% of the time. And I wish I didn’t have to take my dog out 4 to 5 times a day. If I didn’t have a dog, my neighbors would NEVER see me. And whatever they think now, it would probably be worse. But I choose my dog over comfort. I think.
