begging you to keep on

Ugh. I have so much to do. So why not go into avoidance mode and do a blog post? But I did finish 90% of my federal taxes. I almost forgot! That has never happened before. Just one more reminder that I might have dementia, while people with a lack of knowledge of all my life and basic neurology would say, “It’s probably just a lack of sleep.”

Anything can be blamed on a lack of sleep. Do you want to see my memory test results from 4 years ago, when I was sleeping 7 hours a night? Oh, right. But it’s more comfortable sometimes to blame it on sleeping 4 to 5 hours a night. Why not? I have things to do! I don’t have time to figure this out.

Doctors? What? Don’t get me started. Neurologists only know one thing – neurology, and they have been getting by for decades, knowing nothing about autism. This will change very, very soon. And then PCPs and all other specialists (cardiologists, GI, etc.) know nothing about (adult) autism. So don’t “doctor” me. (Or other autistic adults). They know nothing. But, uh, thanks for the general, basic advice.

If only there was help. But that’s wishful thinking. A fantasy. It’s like thinking there’s a safety net by the government. (In the United States).

No time for fantasies. I’m going back to my hometown on Wednesday for about 4 days. Wish I could stay longer so I could rest. It’s a long drive – almost 4 hours. But no more time off is available on the calendar. Oh well. Not packed. Only about 20% ready.

Books of the Week

Only finished one book since last week, but finishing many books now. I finished:

  • She Was the Quiet One by Michelle Campbell (fiction) – My rating: ★★★★ From my notes: they bring in new characters to blame things on??? To be fair, the characters were mentioned in the beginning. But I find it annoying when authors do this. I think most authors know not to do this because the audience may feel cheated. But if it’s a good book, I’m okay. This was an enjoyable book, slightly above average for its genre.

Quote of the Week

You had to live—did live, from habit that became instinct—in the assumption that every sound you made was overheard, and, except in darkness, every movement scrutinised. 1984 - George Orwell

I can relate.
