How would you design the city of the future?

SOME of the things I would do:

• All apartments, townhouses, homes, and hotels in the city would be soundproof, regardless of individual preference.
• The soundproofing is intended to support people with sensory issues (such as autism or PTSD) and those who need or want a quiet environment.
• Every sidewalk and building must be wheelchair accessible.
• There would be lots of parks throughout the city.
• Parks would include designated walking areas, since walking on wet grass is difficult and grass often stays wet in the mornings.
• Parks would be designed to be safe and accessible for kids with disabilities.
• Tiny houses would be allowed, but every resident would have a yard or at least a deck.
• Condos and apartments would be required to have balconies or patios, recognizing the importance of outdoor space for many people.
• Rules for outdoor spaces would prohibit parties and leaving pets unattended on balconies.
• No random police takeovers.

I hate that some are building tiny homes with no outdoor area for people. I live in a small house, under 550 sq ft (but my property taxes are as high as a 2-bedroom house – ugh!), and while I love tiny space living, I don’t think that should mean no yard or deck. A small house was even unaffordable, but I still bought it.

I can’t possibly fully answer this prompt. So, this list includes a few things that first come to mind.

Both photos are AI generated from a prompt I gave it. I tend to think that’s obvious and don’t always state it. I forget that not everyone would assume that. And yes, these “cities” are too crowded. I would have to keep changing the prompt to get exactly what I want. Too time consuming for this blog, so I go with the first images 90% of the time.
