Logic can enhance empathy

But does it always? I’m the one who says nothing is true 100% of the time including what I just said. Is logic, always logic? Always the same? I know all logical people don’t think the same, so I guess that leads me to my answer.

A logical person who values money more than anything is VERY different than a person who values fairness.

Scenario: Logical Joe has a business with 59 employees. The business was doing well, but now it’s inevitable that the business needs to save money to stay open. Joe estimates something will have to change within 3 months.

Instead of writing out who would do what, I will leave it to AI

Prompt to AI: Both people are named Joe, and they are natural logical thinkers. But Logical Joe Money values having money the most and Logical Joe values fairness the most, what are the top 3 thoughts the Joes have?

Oh wow. It gave a long answer, I’ve never asked AI anything like this before. And I can’t hide it under a toggle so I will provide a summary:

I’m not that impressed because both will probably have the same ending. So, is all logic the same? I say no… Is there an answer? AI is often biased to resemble a person, and most people aren’t concerned with fairness when it comes to business. So, this feels like what most people would do. Maybe I should have specified neurodivergent just to see if I would have gotten a different answer.

So, that was a failed “logical” attempt. It’s not about values. So, maybe I got something out of this. Maybe…because I see one of the biggest differences between me and others are what we value, but what if it’s that’s shallow and it is more about something else? Like logic?

Stay tuned. That might be a not because I have a horrible memory and if I don’t come back to this in a week, I will likely never come back to this exact topic. I think I could figure this out if I wasn’t 10:30 PM and I haven’t slept 6 hours in two days.

I didn’t finish the following but if I don’t post it tonight, it will never go out. I started typing this earlier while taking breaks. It’s not well thought out. I was multitasking.

How life could be different for everyone: Ideal world, Freedom. Everyone of all abilities is accepted. People are so quick and too harshly judge. Obviously, no hunger and everyone has a place to live. Everyone has healthcare. The essentials needed to live are taken care of. So, people can actually thrive. Instead of trying to survive. And people don’t have to lie to hide the bad.

People could be themselves. Sure, some things will always be hidden – like addiction or maybe mostly things that are illegal. But it would be great if everyone could be more authentic

What and who I can’t forgive: Society. The “discrimination” against autistic people. These days I feel frustrated and over it and not willing to be patient when there’s no give and take. Impact – low pay, low sleep, short life span, chronic illnesses etc.

Like most about being autistic – I love that I love learning. I can make learning something into a project. I also like the natural empathy. It’s just logically thinking which might be naturally empathetic. Unsure. People say I’m “trying” to be intellectual which is mind boggling. I can think logically and with emotion. I’m not trying anything.

What I wish people understood about being autistic: that we are truly are different and judging us by neurotypical standards is often harmful in medicine, as kids, therapy. everything. People really fear different so that may be the issue.

Describe your most authentic self and world. I’m at the beach. I feel free. I hear the waves. I’m with my dog. He also feels free. I’m wearing a long, comfortable dress. No one else is there. I’m thinking of how beautiful the earth is. How great the ocean is. I’m at peace, clam and feel free. One with the world.
