Good question. Hmmn. I have no idea. I’ve been up for 2 days straight. And yes, I’m wondering what if I can’t go to sleep tonight. The insomnia anxiety is real!
This sounds like it could be a moral question for some. Not me. I don’t need a specific direction to follow my morals. If I had to answer to something it would be something like nature or the beach. Things like astrology or human design can give me specific answers, but I don’t lean on it for direction.
What doesn’t give me direction? Maps or people. OMG. Maps are like a foreign language. I can follow a basic park trail map, and that’s about it. If a person says, “Turn left,” I’d probably do it 67% of the time.
I was lost at a big hospital this year. I asked at least five workers for directions. Most people didn’t have any idea where I needed to go, which led to more feeling overwhelmed and anxious about never getting there. Two people gave me the right directions, but I have no memory, so anything past “Walk down there….” meant nothing to me.
I’ve been to many different big hospitals (not just for medical appointments), so I didn’t really think I should leave six hours early. Anyway, I think I got to the right place only 15 minutes late after wandering around for 40 minutes. I checked in and waited and waited… and I had to abandon the appointment because I was foolish enough to schedule something afterward. I’m going back there in June. Wish me luck!
What was the prompt? I haven’t slept in weeks so I might have lost the plot.
I finished a long survey for the cheapest company ever. Should they be embarrassed, or should I be embarrassed to take a long survey with NO COMPENSATION? Who does that? Jeff Bezos, of course. Just because you’re a billionaire doesn’t mean you have to be a grade A jerk, Jeff.
One thing happens and they lose their shit. Imagine really needing resources. I will die if I lose half of my billions. Okay, fine.
I got the email from Audible about a true crime survey. I love a survey. I was hesitant because they said it was long, and I haven’t slept. (Did you know that?) But I kept it open all afternoon and kept going back to it until I got it done.
I just wanted an Audible credit, Jeff. But I got nothing but a little writing for this blog. I’m not really mad or disgusted, but they can’t afford an AUDIBLE credit. ONE? For my 30-45 minutes of time? WTF. Am I getting outraged?
It was a long ass survey, but fun because I like that kind of stuff. Most of it was multiple choice or putting things in order. I’m not including the exact questions because I think these are real true crime shows Audible is releasing soon and I choose not to be a jerk, JEFF BEZOS. Try it!
True Crime Survey
Why do you like true crime? Is it because you are a serial killer? What kind of audio true crime interests you? (reworded)
I like good narration. I prefer an unbiased account of the facts initially, but a little opinion is fine later. I like it to be like a true fiction book about a crime. I listen because I’m curious about people with different lives and enjoy a good story based on actual events. I see it as no different than listening to current events on the news or an account of a historical event.
What aspects of true crime draw you in? Are you getting ideas for a kill? (reworded for Bezos).
I enjoy “whodunits” in both fiction and true crime because I am captivated by mysteries. While I primarily listen to murder cases in true crime, I find cults fascinating. I have a particular interest in small towns, but location doesn’t really matter.
What kind of true crime stories do you wish Audible had more of while you dream of being the next story?
I’m fine with whatever Bezos wants. But I would like more deep dives into one case. I wouldn’t mind more cult or MLM topics and I appreciate narrators with good narration and storytelling abilities.
Here’s a show that coming soon. Would you listen to it if you could afford a credit? Why or why not?
I would give it a chance. I find location-based series interesting. But if the crime scene is “infamous,” and I already know a lot about the crime, I might skip it. The part about how the crimes changed the location is intriguing. I’m not a fan of immersive storytelling, mainly because the sound isn’t consistent, and there’s always someone with an annoying voice. Or someone who yells when I’m trying to relax and listen. 🙂
Here’s another true crime show. Give me all your thoughts for nothing.
Interesting to see an investigator work a case in real-time. Love the mystery of figuring out the four victims. And it has new evidence. This would be better for TV so the viewers can see the victims and feel like they are more of a part of the case. Whether I enjoyed this would probably depend on whether I liked the investigator.
That’s all. I didn’t save one of my written answers. It was about how I’m like Ted Bundy, but I’m not smart, charming or a killer. Seriously, I’m always surprised that even people who usually have nuance can’t have nuance about true crime. It’s a news event. So, I’m not going to explain it. I’m way too tired for that and it’s a waste of more time.
Forgot to mention in my answer: I got into true crime as a teenager because I read so many fiction mysteries and got tired of the genre. I needed something new. I think I found Ann Rule first. And I read all her books and a few John Douglas books. etc.
