So many books

Daily writing prompt
List three books that have had an impact on you. Why?

A lot of books have had a big impact on me. It’s hard to pick three. But I’ll do the first books that come to mind:

Before reading this book, Viva Oaxaca, by Robert Adler, and Jo Ann Wexler, I was already going to Oaxaca, Mexico. But this book was a great read. I think it got destroyed, and I had to throw it away a few years after I went. Yes, I took this book with me to Mexico. Of course!

The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness started my criminal justice reform interest years ago. It’s a painful read. So I probably won’t read it again.

As a society, our decision to heap shame and contempt upon those who struggle and fail in a system designed to keep them locked up and locked out says far more about ourselves than it does about them

Michelle Alexander

The Dark Side of the Light Chasers: Reclaiming Your Power, Creativity, Brilliance, and Dreams by Debbie Ford. I changed my major after reading this. So yes, a life changer.

Ford’s step-by-step guidebook is modeled on a highly successful course she developed about embracing the shadow.

From review.

Gotta go and unpack or stand around until I get inspiration.
