I have jury duty in May. Of all of the months. They could have picked April, June, July, August, September, or October. But no, they are determined to ruin and stress me the eff out during my favorite month! If I didn’t have (real) burnout and high tax bills, I would have planned a 3-day beach trip for May. I used to do it every year. But that was another life.
Winter is bad because I have to hibernate due to my cold intolerance. People who have no idea see this as a choice. People like me know what it’s like to be frozen (in my house because the heating is horrible) for an hour and unable to move. Plus, there’s always a chance of snow, so I am glad I didn’t get picked during the colder months.
All I’m doing is what the law requires at this point. Unfortunately, jury duty falls into that. And taxes, mowing the lawn (those %&$# would probably call the police if I’m 1 centimeter over), getting my car inspected, and things like that. That’s burnout.
Well, I am eating and taking care of my dog. But both are at subpar levels. Doing the least. Not by choice. Of course. I guess taking care of my dog is a legal issue. Lol. Never thought of that. I love Fido! But me eating? Not so much. But I’m not cooking. Not even fake cooking with meal kits. Microwave 95% of the time. And I use my air fryer for toast and a few other simple things that don’t involve cooking. I haven’t done a real grocery store run in months.
So, thanks for making things worse by giving me jury duty, where I have to call a number every day to find out what to do the next day. No stress at all. These people!!! Unbelievable. Treating me like I’m fully functioning!! HA. Guess people aren’t getting the memo. I’m not here. The audacity. Go after Mark. He’s fine. Leave me alone. Read the room, as they say.

I could scream at people for hours, and they still wouldn’t get a thing. That’s the world we live in. Nothing to say, but bless their hearts. When people suggest I do something voluntarily, I laugh at this point. And they have no idea why. It’s hilarious.
To make all this worse…yes, there’s more. I have an overnight sleep study in MAY, of course. And I have to drive my senior dog 3.5 hours to my mom. I’m not getting into all of this. I wish I had canceled the 24-hour sleep study, but it was scheduled 6 months ago. So….wait another 6 months? Just say eff it because their freaking jury duty is so important. It’s all about them.
I already called and only got 3 days off from not having to call the number on the days of the sleep study. I didn’t realize I really needed at least one more day to pick up my dog. So eff it. I’m going to take a chance. And if they say I have to be there, I will leave at 3 am, drive 3.5 hours, and be there. All for them. Aren’t I great!
No smiles, small talk, or eye contact. I will probably be very sleepy. But I will be present. Isn’t that the law? Am I taking things too literally again? I can’t imagine what my issue could possibly be. Nothing comes to mind.
I’m so done with these people. SO DONE. I think Jane has extra bandwidth. Can she do it? Ooops, sorry for the outburst with my honest feelings. We don’t do that here.
I know how jury duty is going to go. I get there. They see me. I don’t get called. So it’s really a waste of both of our time. This has happened several times in different cities!! I tell people things, and they don’t listen. They don’t comprehend. But hey, waste more of my life. That’s what they do. Story of my life.
Not getting into more details. I just wanted to complain about jury duty and how my life is all about them. What are they saying I must do? (By law). That’s the burnout I have…that isn’t cured by a weekend, a week off, or a month off. But I would love time off. That’s quite a concept.
So, May will be the busiest month of 2026. Probably. Well, it depends on what else people require I do. (By law). And I’m not doing anything fun. Not even on my birthday.
Other than this, things are going great.
