Do no harm

Trigger warning: medical trauma

(I don’t usually do trigger warnings on here for a couple of reasons: 1. I don’t think about it because this is an obviously personal blog that is not about recipes and rainbows. 2. From personal experience, I know anything can be traumatic and I can’t do a warning for everything. People NEVER do content warnings for things that are triggers for me. I do content warnings for book reviews on other sites.)

Sharing a few thoughts from another blog:

Assuming neurotypicality as the ‘default’ can lead miscommunication to and misunderstandings.

THIS. It causes so much harm.

Even those who dedicate their lives to caring for people can be ignorant to the complexities of neurodivergent experience, which often leads to miscommunication and misunderstanding around consent, with potentially traumatising outcomes for neurodivergent individuals.

But whatever! We must be lying. (Heavy eye roll)

Every time I’ve mentioned this to a medical professional it has been ignored. So, I give up. Talking to a brick wall would be more effective.
