Can’t Trick Myself

Daily writing prompt
Do you have a favorite place you have visited? Where is it?

Boring topic. Because all I do is talk about the places I’ve loved to visit. But my favorite place in general is the beach. My favorite trip is Oaxaca City, Mexico because I’d been wanting to go there for over 10 years at the time. I couldn’t afford a real vacation. It was only 3 or 4 days/nights. The shortest trip ever, but I did a lot.

I’m still contemplating a trip for 2025. I wish I could go somewhere for 4 or 5 nights but I can’t find anything affordable and a place that will accept dogs.

I found a place for 3 nights, but it’s kind of expensive. Adding just one more night seems too extravagant. No, I don’t have the money now. I would probably do pay in four. It seems strange to me to use credit for a 3 day vacation. Yes, I desperately need to get away, but my life is a series of little emergencies, and I know something would happen. I don’t have vacation money. At all.

Senorita needs to have a little fun.

My car repair in November wiped out my ER savings. I love it when people say save money. Dude, I do. But then stuff happens. How much can I possibly save? I don’t make enough to save more than $30 a month. A year ago, saving $5 a month was great. But as soon as the plumbing goes bad, the so-called savings is gone. Why do I have to explain something so basic and obvious?

Short answer: Everyone doesn’t live only relying only on their labor. If I don’t work, I have no source of income. No spouse. No friends. No family. No inheritance. No public assistance. Nothing. And I’m disabled, so my income is capped. (It shouldn’t be…but not going there. No time.) I get nothing from the government. Nada. Zilch. They hate me more than I hate them. I’m paying the government right now, but why bring that up? Those assh$#les.

It’s scary relying 100% on me. I hate thinking about it. It makes me frustrated, scared and it’s too much. No safety net. I just read an article on how Gen Z can only afford buying a house with a downpayment from their parents. That’s how it works for some. They aren’t relying on their labor only. I am and it’s effing terrifying. Especially when disabled. Other people can think, “I don’t want to work forever, but I can.” I know that won’t happen foe me. I won’t be able to. But it’s not like I’m going to have a long life. Thank g-d.

Have to go to bed. I’m working 3 jobs again. (Got my part-time job back after nothing for a month!) So, I’ve been staying up late so I can pretend I have some type of freedom. But I’m aware I have no real freedom. Time to face reality and sleep.

Work and sleep. That’s all I do. No life.
