What I Admire

Daily writing prompt
What is something others do that sparks your admiration?

Doing something without expecting money or something that costs money (like food, supplies).

It is so rare for this to happen to me. But it did happen once in 2023. LOL. I needed this to see that there are good people in the world. I do it a lot. Too much. And I find it interesting how rarely it happens. It’s probably about not being motivated by money. I think 10% to 20% of Americans #1 motivation isn’t money. So these people probably would be more likely to do this.

To be fair, I’m not including people like therapists and teachers because, technically, they are already working. But teachers, especially, pay for a lot of their own supplies. So I know it happens. But does it happen when it’s NOT related to a job? And teachers shouldn’t have to do this, of course!!

And I can’t parse through volunteering. Too many situations. Some do it for their resume, college, boredom, etc. None of these people are bad for volunteering. I don’t give a damn about your reasons. Just keep volunteering. In the past, I volunteered because I liked the work, had extra time, and could add it to my resume, but I don’t think it makes a difference to me. I don’t list mine on my resume because I like keeping it to 1 page.

It’s nice to see people not do the opposite of the culture when everything is so dark. There’s hope.

Once again, I’m not saying money is bad. I work for money. All the time. This is the world we live in.
