To post about my 3 day New York trip, I’d have to do 10 separate entries. I could ramble about the random Wyclef Jean sighting forever. It was bizarre. Then there the “new” hobby I discovered. The things I didn’t do. The things I walk by several times but didn’t even get a pic of (Radio City Music Hall, The Met…). How I didn’t do much touristy things, I walked the neighborhoods & saw the expensive townhouses. I met my soulmate Hans Christian Andersen. I sat with him and got two pics with him! He was so nice. 😉 To not get overwhelmed, I’m just going to post naturally and in no specific order.
I’ve always loved hotels. Most of the things I’ve heard about NYC hotels were negative. “Nothing but a bed and a small bathroom. Loud. Nice as long as you just sleep there”. Well I experienced none of those things at The Kimberly Hotel. It surpassed…everything. It was gorgeous. The bathroom was big. It wasn’t loud. I fell in love at first sight. This hotel is getting on “best of” lists so I don’t expect it to always be ‘affordable’. Yeah, affordable in NYC is a joke but compared to other hotels this one was well worth every dime. By next year at this time, I expect a price hike.
Anyhow I’m glad got a chance to stay there. I didn’t get one recommendation. It was pure luck. I was just looking for a hotel with more than one bed and The Kimberly Hotel was pretty much the only hotel that I kept running into with rooms available. I’ll stop rambling about this place…for now.
The point of this entry is supposed to be about how I love hotels for escape. And now I’m sure I have a style for my own house. I don’t fall into modern or country but “hotel” is what I want. I want it to look just like a nice hotel room. A bed & breakfast. I’m going to put these photos into my neglected dream book because this is what I want my space to look like.
Here are a few pics from my dream space aka The Kimberly Hotel:
It looks better with the chandelier on.
That matches my current color scheme. I have a pic similar to this in my living room. much smaller & cheaper.

Right by the other window. Orlando lost. 🙁
If you haven’t fallen in love w/these drapes yet, you aren’t alive! I have more drape pics. lol.
I have to go. more about nyc later. sleepy. yay Lakers! (<–spoiler) :p
p.s
I guess most hotel decor is considered modern if it must be labeled. I love the beach but there is no way I would want to live in a house with that decor year round. I like the modern furnishings of this Canadian hotel.
